Built properly, not bolted together

This isn’t a handful of lessons stitched together. It’s grounded in the official Acol and SAYC standards, and shaped by deep research into some of the best bridge thinking ever written — particularly for defence and card play. The result isn’t borrowed from any single source; it’s a genuine synthesis, distilled into one coherent curriculum, built over years by a bridge mentor.

A proper lesson

Plain English, worked hands, and the reasoning behind each rule — not just the rule itself. Infographics and worked example hands throughout, with video woven in where it helps most.

A reference card to keep

Every module comes with its own in-depth reference card, yours to download and keep for life. Even a month’s premium membership leaves you with a permanent set of reference material for the whole game.

A real quiz

Real hands, a full explanation behind every answer — and, unlike most courses, the result actually feeds into a system that remembers what you got wrong.

That’s not a one-off — it’s every module, across all seven courses:

1 · Foundation
The game itself — tricks, trumps, counting your hand. Start here with zero prior knowledge.

2 · ACOL Bidding Basics
The system played in most British clubs — Weak No Trump, four-card majors.

3 · SAYC Bidding Basics
Standard American — Strong No Trump, five-card majors. Take this one or ACOL, whichever your club plays.

4 · Intermediate Bidding & Conventions
Stayman, transfers, overcalls, doubles, pre-empts — the two systems rejoin here.

5 · Slam & Beyond
For the keen — slam bidding and the sequences that need real precision. Well past what most club players ever cover.

6 · Declarer Play
Planning the hand, establishing suits, drawing trumps, entries — where contracts are actually made.

7 · Defence
Opening leads, signals, and the card play that takes contracts down. You defend half of every session — most players never study it properly.

Nothing is locked behind the last course. Pay once and everything is open from day one — take it in whatever order suits you, and dip into other courses where it makes sense (leads, for instance, come up well before the Defence course itself).

Reinforced by Bridge IQ
Included with every membership

Bridge is vast, and even players who’ve finished their lessons often don’t know where to focus next. That’s what Bridge IQ is for. Every quiz you take feeds into a personal dashboard that shows you, at a glance, exactly where you stand — and points you toward the single next thing worth your time.

Bridge IQ dashboard showing skills radar, stage, and focus view for a strong club player

Real quiz results, not pages read. Optional material never counts against you.

What needs attention

Anything you’ve had a go at but haven’t nailed down shows up here automatically — so weak spots get found before a real hand finds them for you.

A quiz system that remembers

Get something wrong and it’s brought back until it sticks — reinforcement built in, not just watch-and-forget.

Honest, not flattering

Measured against club standard, not perfection — advanced material is marked optional and never drags your score down. It knows which system you play, too, so the other is left out entirely.

Use it alongside the courses to see your progress build over time, or ignore it altogether and just work through the curriculum in order — the choice is yours.

You are probably one of these

Starting from scratch

Never played, or played kitchen bridge and want the real thing. Start at Foundation — we start assuming you don’t even know what a trick is.

In lessons, and lost

Your class moves at the speed of its fastest student. Here you can stop, re-read, and take the quiz again until it sticks — or get ahead.

Coming back to it

Played years ago and most of it’s still in there. Bridge IQ finds what’s gone rusty in an afternoon, not a season.

A solid club player, want more

Let Bridge IQ check for weaknesses — every player has at least one — then dive into new conventions or in-depth defence.

Questions people ask

What actually makes this course different from others out there?

Depth and structure. Every single module — across all seven courses — gets a proper lesson, a reference card you keep for life, and a real quiz, built on the official Acol and SAYC standards plus decades of the best bridge thinking. On top of that, Bridge IQ tracks your actual quiz results, not just how much you’ve read, so you always know what to work on next.

Do I have to take the courses in order?

No. Everything is unlocked from day one. Bridge IQ suggests a sensible order, but if your partnership needs opening leads fixed this week, go straight to opening leads.

Do I have to use Bridge IQ?

No — you can just take the lessons and do the quizzes if you want to. Quizzes feed into Bridge IQ, so it’s there for you if you decide to use it later.

I already play. Is this too basic for me?

Take a couple of quizzes and let Bridge IQ answer that honestly. The courses go in depth into areas most club players never get round to learning — and most of that is in defence, where you play half your hands but almost nobody studies it properly. A club player who works through the Defence course tends to find more improvement there than anywhere else on the site. And when you’re ready to go further, Slam & Beyond covers precision bidding well past what most club players ever cover.

Which system should I learn — ACOL or SAYC?

Play the system your club plays — in the UK and much of the Commonwealth that’s ACOL, in North America it’s SAYC. If you’re planning to play online, you can learn either — ACOL is generally considered easier for beginners. Tell Bridge IQ which one and the other is left out of your score entirely.

Can I cancel?
